Job description
We are in search of a boundless Manager of Packaging Development to support ILIA packaging development from concept to commercialization. This role will have the technical expertise to conduct comprehensive feasibility analysis, dimension evaluation and manufacture assembly instructions, and work collaboratively with our Creative team on designing materials that are aligned with our mission & values.
This role is hybrid for candidates located in Los Angeles or New York City and reports into the Director of Packaging
Manage the end-to-end of packaging development and execution for new launches from concept to commercialization.
Work collaboratively with our Creative team on design creation by providing material, formula, and sustainability guidelines, and technical feedback.
Provide comprehensive feasibility of each concept or package that defines function, manufacturability, component cost, tooling estimates, and preliminary development lead time.
Collaborate with key cross-functional team members to manage project timelines and cost of goods to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of launches.
Create and approve packaging specifications, technical drawings, risk analysis, dimension evaluation and manufacturing assembly instruction.
Coordinate sample, standard, and range board approval between internal cross functional teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
Monitor industry trends and advances in packaging technology and sustainability to inform future product development.
Develop and maintain relationships with packaging vendors and manufacturers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability of packaging materials and components.
Oversee testing and validation of packaging materials to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and brand standards.
Partner with key cross-functional team members to manage project timelines and cost of goods to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of launches.
Job requirements
Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering, industrial design, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in packaging development and management, preferably in the beauty or personal care industry with 1-2 years of management experience
Extensive knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and practices.
Experience working with industry leading global packaging suppliers and contract manufacturers.
Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Ability to be agile and thrive in a dynamic environment, with extensive project load.
Strong experience with custom tooling, manufacturing processes, and packaging test methods.
